Tour Details

This beautiful lagoon is located in the Mollepata district of the Province of Anta, to the North East of the Department of Cusco. It is surrounded by impressive snow-capped mountains, which are part of the Vilcabamba mountain range and close to the sacred snow-capped mountain of Salkantay (6,271 meters / 20,574 feet). The lagoon is at an altitude of 4,215 meters. It is under the skirts of the snowy Humantay (5,450 meters). Huma = (head of the gods) Tay = place where you live. The tribes of the jungle considered it to be located on the slope that overlooks the high jungle. The turquoise color that presents the lagoon, is because of the presence of green microalgae (Mycrocystis Auruginosa, oscillatory and minerals), which next to the Sky reflection results in its banks presenting multicolored hues. turning this place into magical and mysterious. It is considered one of the natural wonders of Peru. On its banks we will find mounds of stones (apachetas). It is a form of thanks to the pacha mama (mother earth) for allowing us to reach the place without any problem.

We have professional guides knowledgeable about culture and tradition. They are properly trained since they will be in charge of making their trip a unique, safe and pleasant experience. Our agency is committed to offering and providing quality service, always promoting sustainable tourism
