Discover the soul of the Andes with our Lake Titicaca Cultural Immersion: Uros, Amantani & Taquile 2 Days. This is not just a sightseeing tour; it is a profound journey into the heart of the world’s highest navigable lake. Designed by Cusco Land Expeditions, this authentic experience allows you to step off the beaten path and live alongside local communities, sharing meals, stories, and traditions that have remained unchanged for centuries.
On this two-day adventure, you will visit the legendary Floating Islands of the Uros, built entirely from totora reeds. You will then travel to the tranquil Island of Amantani for a unique homestay experience with a local family, hiking to the sacred Pachatata and Pachamama temples for an unforgettable sunset. The journey concludes on Taquile Island, a UNESCO-recognized paradise famous for its master weavers and ancestral textile traditions.
We depart from the port of Puno at 08:00 AM. After a short boat ride, we visit the Uros Floating Islands, where you will learn how these artificial islands are constructed with totora reeds. We then continue navigating the deep blue waters of Lake Titicaca for about 2.5 hours until we reach Amantani Island. You will be welcomed by your host family, who will provide a delicious traditional lunch.
In the afternoon, we hike to the summit of the island to visit the Pachatata and Pachamama temples to watch a spectacular sunset. The night concludes with a traditional cultural show ("Peña") and dinner with your host family.
After a hearty breakfast with your host family, we depart for Taquile Island. Upon arrival, we enjoy a scenic hike to the main square to admire the island's famous textile art—recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. You will learn about the unique weaving traditions of the men on the island. After an optional lunch with panoramic lake views, we board our boat to return to Puno, arriving at the port around 03:30 PM for your final transfer back to your hotel.
